Arranges and describes archival materials in preparation for digitization, and records descriptive metadata for processed and unprocessed materials. Assists with creation of online objects to showcase digitized Special Collections materials, including research for Congressional digital exhibits. Student Assistant - University Libraries - 524503
Access Services Student Assistants work with Circulation and Interlibrary Loan staff to support Library operations. Student Assistants may also be assigned to work in Branch Libraries as needed. Student Circulation duties include assisting patrons in finding library materials, checking in/out materials including media equipment, processing returned materials, shelving, shifting, and maintaining the order of library materials, performing hourly walkthroughs of the building, and providing excellent customer service to patrons in person and on the phone at Library service desks. Student Interlibrary Loan duties include assisting in processing borrowing and lending Interlibrary loan materials. E.g. retrieving materials from the stacks, using databases to process items, and packaging and shipping materials. Student Assistants also help with departmental projects and other tasks as assigned. Students are hired on a semester-to-semester basis depending on job performance.
