Job Summary: The Children’s Coordinator teaches Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church on Sunday mornings and coordinates volunteers to teach. Plans and implements one event for children and families per month such as Fall Festival, one day VBS, Easter Egg Hunt, Children’s Nativity, Parents’ Day Out, etc. Encourages children in their spiritual growth and maturity. Works every Sunday morning 9:00am to 12:00pm to assist teachers and teach as needed. Leads a “children’s moment” in worship or coordinates volunteers to lead a "children's moment." Recruits additional appropriate adult leaders for events as needed in compliance with the church's Safe Sanctuary policies. Provides resources for teachers and adult leaders who volunteer with children. Works in conjunction with the pastor. Coordinates work with the Youth Director and Nursery Coordinator. Communicates with parents regarding their needs and opportunities for their children and friends. Communicates regularly with volunteers and parents.


Additional Department Summary: Trinity United Methodist Church (UMC) is seeking a Children’s Coordinator to coordinate and grow a ministry with children ages 3 to 11 and their families. Trinity UMC has 155 members and about 15 active and inactive children. The Children’s Coordinator will teach and coordinate children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church on Sunday mornings, and plan one event for children and families per month. They will work directly with children and volunteers. They will coordinate work with the larger church including the Youth Director and Nursery Coordinator.

The position requires an average of 15 hours per week and pays $800/month. A background check and Safe Sanctuary Training will be required for the Children’s Coordinator. This will be provided by the church ASAP at the church's expense.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work an average of 15 hours per week. Love for ministry to children of different backgrounds and ages. Respect for different family types. Demonstrated evidence of organizational and people skills. Demonstrated ability to organize and lead programs with children and youth. Good understanding of United Methodism. Ability to work with pastor, church staff, parents, and volunteers for a safe and effective ministry. Excellent character. Available Sunday mornings and special monthly events. Ability to work within a budget and properly record/submit expenses.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Self-motivated. Organized. Excellent communication skills. Creative. Positive public presence. Flexible.


Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of direct experience teaching or working with children and their families. Knowledge of the developmental stages of children and youth. Experience with children and youth who have special needs.
