Job Summary: The Desk Assistant (DA) works scheduled desk hours previously negotiated with the Desk Manager. Provides customer service to residents in a residential community, parents, faculty, staff, administration, and UA community members. Staffs the front desk. Checks supplies in and out. Answers phones. Acts as a resource for residents and others who enter our buildings. Additional duties as assigned by supervising personnel.


Additional Department Summary: Provides positive and excellent customer service. Answers phone professionally. Supports the desk team by working to cover shifts for other DAs in need. Responds to all questions, inquires, and comments efficiently and effectively. Makes appropriate referrals. Responds immediately to on-going facility and safety/security needs. Maintains confidentiality in regards to all student and HRC information.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Must be enrolled as full-time undergraduate students (Fall 2024 semester), and have and maintain a semester and cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher. Must be in good judicial, financial, and academic standing as defined by the University and the college in which the DA is enrolled. Must be able to work overnight and weekend hours throughout the semester.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to work holiday, overnight and weekend hours throughout the semester. Ability to attend all departmental and area training sessions and workshops. Ability to dress appropriately for the position at all times. Ability to be attentive to desk duties at all times, refraining from sleeping while at work, leaving the desk unattended, or engaging in continuous conversation with friends or on cell phones. Ability to adhere and enforce all HRC policies and UA Student Code of Conduct.


Preferred Qualifications: Ability to work overnight and weekend hours throughout the semester. Ability to work during break periods, including any state sponsored holidays, special campus closings, etc. Ability to work during special campus events, catastrophic weather, etc.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
