Position Summary
The Saxon Endowed Chair in Rural Nursing is a 9-month position for a highly accomplished scholar who has a record of collaborating with faculty and students to plan, design, conduct, evaluate and disseminate rural-focused nursing research and scholarship activities. The Saxon Chair is expected to obtain external funding, support our emphasis on rural nursing, teach in the CCN’s graduate programs and serve as a mentor to both faculty and students. The person in this position is considered an informal leader in the College who supports the College’s mission, vision and goals. This is a representation of possible duties for the Saxon Chair and is not an all-inclusive listing.
Detailed Position Information
Seeking a 9-month Associate/Full Professor with an active, externally funded program of research in rural nursing and experience teaching in graduate programs. Candidates must have an established record of leadership (formal or informal) and of mentoring faculty and students. The Capstone College of Nursing has over 3,100 students enrolled in programs leading to BSN, MSN, DNP, EdD and PhD degrees. At the MSN level, we offer concentrations for Nurse Administrators, Family Nurse Practitioners, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. We offer both post BSN and post MSN entry points in our DNP and PhD programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Successful candidates must have an earned research doctorate in nursing or a related field and must have the ability to practice as a registered nurse in Alabama. They must also have teaching experience in one or more of the graduate programs offered by the Capstone College of Nursing. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching in a PhD program. It is expected that candidates will bring an extensive record of securing external funding, successfully leading research projects, and disseminating project findings. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of leadership (formal or informal), experience collaborating with faculty and students on research and scholarly projects, and a record of mentoring faculty and students. This is not a distance-based position. Faculty are expected to be present on campus.
