Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am to 3:00pm; some evenings, nights, weekends, & holidays required
Job Summary: The Traffic Maintenance Technician assists in maintaining and repairing parking deck gates. Maintains parking facilities and Campus roadways. Facilitates traffic flow within the University. Installs and maintains traffic and parking signage, pavement markings, and regulatory markings on curbs and sidewalks. Assists with Athletic and other special events on Campus.
Additional Department Summary: The Traffic Maintenance Tech may be required to work a different schedule for the Summer period (approximately mid-May to mid-August).
Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of maintenance, warehouse, or construction experience; OR post-secondary school training in mechanical or electronic repair and one (1) year of maintenance, warehouse, or construction experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge: Basic math skills. Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to become familiar with locations on the University of Alabama campus. Ability to learn University/department specific software, systems, and devices. Ability to learn to perform mechanical as well as electronic repair to parking deck gates. Ability to use the tools and equipment of the job.
Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, material and supplies of the job to include but not limited to bags of Sakrete and Coldpatch, temporary stop signs, street signs, YoDocks, and barricades.

Preferred Qualifications: Certified forklift operator. Two (2) years of experience in automobile maintenance, working outdoors, warehouse, automotive retail, stocking/receiving, construction, or other manual labor role. Some experience in mechanical or electronic troubleshooting and repair work.
