Position Summary
The Department of Human Nutrition, Hospitality and Sport Management, a growing department with a thriving faculty, seeks to fill a faculty position in Human Nutrition.


Detailed Position Information
The Department is the largest of five in the College of Human Environmental Sciences at The University of Alabama. We offer an undergraduate degree in Food and Nutrition, a Graduate Coordinated Program in Dietetics, and a Didactic Program in Dietetics. Additionally, the department offers an MS and PhD in Human Nutrition.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, research, and service in alignment with the University’s mission. Responsibilities include:
• Teaching undergraduate, MS, and PhD-level courses as needed.
• Establishing and maintaining an active, focused research program in human nutrition.
• Securing external funding to support a nationally competitive research program.
• Producing a strong record of scholarly activity in human nutrition.
• Recruiting, mentoring, and advising students.
• Serving on thesis and dissertation committees.
• Engaging in service on Department, College, and University committees.


Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications: Applicants must have a strong background in human nutrition and/or nutrition sciences, with the ability to establish and sustain a research agenda in areas such as cardiometabolic health, bioactive compounds, and/or community-based/rural health interventions.
• PhD in Dietetics, Nutrition Sciences, Human Nutrition, or a closely-related field required.
• Completion of at least 18 hours of graduate level nutrition courses required.
• Demonstrated ability to teach at the collegiate level, including experience with undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition for a minimum of 10 years required.
• Demonstrated ability to teach metabolism, maternal and child nutrition, community nutrition, prevention and management of chronic disease, nutrition and exercise for health, and nutrition research methods preferred.
• Evidence of an active research program with a minimum of 30 publications in peer-reviewed, scientific journals.
• Demonstrated success in securing external research funding.
• Experience mentoring and advising students at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Evidence of recent professional development or training in collegiate teaching and online learning.
