Job Summary: The Veteran and Military Affairs Operations Manager directs the day-to-day operations of the student certification process. Serves as the lead SCO (School Certifying Official) for VMA. Creates and manages certifying processes. Develops clear communication for students and families, including regular updates on processes, documents, and requirements. Manages the day-to-day operations of the on-campus clinic in support of all patient care to include mental health services. Oversees all functions of the clinic, including student staff management, relationship with Veterans Administration hospital staff, patient access, administrative and financial analysis, care coordination of clinical services and communication, space management, quality control and safety reporting, policy development and deployment. Develops project plans to ensure department goals and effective operations of clinical practice are met.
Additional Department Summary: Completes all required training to include School Certifying Official (SCO) training through Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) and State Approving Agency (SAA), HIPAA, DAV (Disabled American Veterans), Veterans Administration Disability Claims Certification, Veterans Administration Patient Enrollment, Hazardous Material Care and Disposal (Sharps and Medical Waste). Promotes a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace. Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of veteran affairs experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of veteran affairs experience. Must obtain clearance and be authorized by the Veterans Administration on a yearly basis to become and remain an active SCO (School Certifying Official).
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with complex systems software (federal veterans’ benefits) and complicated regulatory benefit processes. Ability to address and manage conflict in a direct and professional manner. Commitment to supporting all students.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree. Experience working in a student-oriented field with college-aged students. Military experience and/or experience working with military populations. Knowledge of Veterans Administration Benefits. Experience with database management. Experience with Banner modules. Experience with Marketing and Recruiting.
