Job Summary: The Technology Assistant provides technical, hardware, and applications support for computer related functions in the College of Nursing. Updates computer inventory. Builds OS images, installs OS images, wipes and surpluses PCs. Sets-up new computers for distribution to computer lab and offices. Assists with maintenance of classroom technology. Updates and maintains websites. Provides daily technical support for students, faculty, and staff. Provides technical support for other activities as needed. Provides assistance in clinical and simulation labs as needed.


Additional Department Summary: The Capstone College of Nursing IT Department is an innovative and fun work environment. We serve as the IT support department for the college, and we work with the latest nursing education equipment such as simulation and telemedicine. The person in this role will learn foundational, enterprise IT fundamentals and have an opportunity to work with the latest tech in human simulator services. 


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student. Ability to work Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. Comfortable working with technology in an academic environment. Open to learning new skills related to hardware and software.


Skills and Knowledge: Familiar with operation of Windows and Mac computers. Good communication skills. Ability to interface with non-tech users. Excellent customer service skills. Problem solving skills. Ability to work independently. Self-motivated, eager to learn, reliable, prompt, and organized.


Preferred Qualifications: Familiar with PC and Apple hardware, Windows and Mac OS, iOS, Android, MS Office 365.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
