Note to Applicants: The Bryant Conference Center (BCC) is seeking a dependable, customer-service-oriented student worker to serve as a Front Desk Assistant.
Job Summary: The Front Desk Student Assistant provides essential support to Bryant Conference Center (BCC) guests, staff, and event participants by serving as the first point of contact for the facility. Greets guests. Answers phones, directs calls, and takes messages. Provides customer service. Supports event operations with light administrative tasks. Responds to guest inquiries and concerns. Provides general information about the BCC. Monitors the lobby and front desk area to ensure a welcoming and organized environment. Communicates guest needs and facility issues with staff. Maintains front desk and lobby cleanliness and organization. Additional duties as assigned to support the operations of the BCC.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent customer service and communication skills. Professional and friendly. Dependable, punctual, and detail oriented. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, phone systems) and problem-solving skills. Willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications: Customer service or front desk experience. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Familiarity with The University of Alabama campus and the Bryant Conference Center. Experience with basic office equipment (phones, printers, computers).
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
