Normal Work Schedule: Flexible; Monday – Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, 15 to 20 hours per week, but lunch coverage (11:00-2:00 flexible) is a must.

Job Summary: The Front Desk Assistant provides general office, administrative, and secretarial support for the Career Center at Culverhouse. Interacts with prospective students and their families, employers/recruiters, alumni, and other UA community members. Maintains professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
Additional Department Summary: Answers phones and assists with customer requests and inquiries. Covers the front desk daily during a flexible lunch hour between 11:00am and 2:00pm. Checks-in and/or inputs program attendees into Handshake from career advisors’ presentations. Schedules student appointments for career advisors. Assists students with issues concerning their Handshake accounts. Tracks and completes interview room usage each month from Handshake “Waiting Room.” Makes copies of documents and creates packets for prospective students and families touring career center ensuring perpetual inventory. Supports the collection of the FDS (First Destination Survey) responses when needed. Ensures promotional materials are available in the giveaway basket. Ensures the front office has current resources and information – and mints. Distributes mail. Additional duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student majoring or minoring in Culverhouse College of Business. Ability to work sometime during lunch, Monday - Friday 11:00am to 2:00pm.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ability to interact and communicate in a professional manner with UA staff, faculty alumni, and students. Ability to work independently. Ability to handle confidential information.
Skills and Knowledge: Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a receptionist; OR experience in a professional business office environment.
Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
