Job Summary: The Student Assistant supports the Student Financial Aid and Scholarship call center and front desk area. Assists students and families in the financial aid and scholarship process through in-person and phone call interactions.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama student enrolled at least half-time. Must have 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application on file with our institution.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a current Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application on file with our institution. U.S. citizens or eligible noncitizens may complete a FAFSA at studentaid.gov. If FAFSA is not on file, you are not eligible to apply for the position. Must be a current University of Alabama student enrolled in at least half-time (4.5 hours graduate/6 hours undergraduate).


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effective listening skills. Ability to effectively handle stressful situations. Ability to provide professional support in a call center and front desk setting. Strong team-player.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a call center or customer service setting.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
