Job Summary: The Graduate Student Assistant supports the Athletic Events and Facility Operations department in executing a wide range of tasks related to ensuring the safety, smooth operations, and success of various athletic events and day-to-day activities.


Additional Department Summary: Assists in coordinating security measures for athletic events, including crowd control, entry and exit procedures, and emergency response planning. Collaborates within Events and Facility Operations department to plan and execute logistical aspects of athletic events, such as facility setup, staffing coverage, and access coordination. Supports in managing and maintaining security protocols, access control, and surveillance systems across athletic facilities. Assists in coordinating with external stakeholders, including law enforcement, emergency services, and event vendors, to ensure a safe and secure environment during events. Provides administrative support for the Athletics Security department, including data entry, documentation, investigations, pay processing, and meeting/training planning for and with various stakeholders. Participates in event planning meetings, debriefings, and post-event evaluations to identify areas for improvement and enhance future event experiences


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama graduate student; OR accepted into a University of Alabama Graduate school program by start date. Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Event Management, Operations Management, Public Safety, or related discipline.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when needed. Basic understanding of event planning and security concepts. Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Preferred Qualifications:


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
