Job Summary: The Event Programmer plans, coordinates, publicizes, and implements Intercultural Center events throughout the academic semester. Reports directly to the Graduate Student Assistant and Student Lead of the Intercultural Center.

Establishes and executes programming ideas to help educate the student body, faculty, and staff in alignment with the University’s Strategic Plan. Assists in the development and implementation of campus-wide events and programs that service the educational, social, cultural and recreational interests of the IC. Serves as the primary event programmer and planner for events and programs set forth by the department and develop learning objectives and strategic priorities in alignment with UA’s strategic plan. Assists in preparation and management of budgets, invoices, and documents regarding financial management of events. Provides on-site assistance for production of activities before, during, and after events via production schedules, coordinating logistics, and implementing tasks. Collaborates with and establishes relationships with campus partners, student organizations, and vendors with a focus on cultural awareness, cultural competencies, connections, and engagement. Participates in weekly/monthly meetings, staff development, and professional correspondences. 


Additional Department Summary: The Intercultural Center (IC) advances The University of Alabama’s mission by serving as a resource and liaison for students, staff, and faculty to learn from, learn with, and learn about each other. The IC welcomes over 5,000 students, faculty, staff, and external guests/visitors to the Center every semester through co-curricular programs and initiatives offered by the Center and the Division of Opportunities, Connections and Success.

In an effort to create an environment which fosters the connections of engagement through programming and co-curricular partnerships and activities, the Event Programmer will serve as a representative for Center operations and support divisional efforts, serving as a liaison between external partners and divisional staff members.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Current University of Alabama undergraduate student. Ability to maintain a minimum of 2.50 cumulative GPA. Ability to work events in the early mornings, late nights, and weekends. Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to work 20 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week during the Summer 2025. Ability to learn working knowledge of University policies related to risk management, grounds use, purchasing, and contracts. Ability to collaborate and establish relationships with campus partners, student organizations, and vendors. Ability to attend weekly meetings/professional correspondence.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must provide a copy of class schedule(s) and an unofficial transcript if selected for interview. Must be willing to sign a statement of conduct and a statement of confidentiality. Must participate in a training program.


Skills and Knowledge: Strong time management and leadership skills.


Enrollment Requirements: Applicants must meet enrollment requirements to be eligible for on-campus student employment. Applicants must be enrolled in a UA degree program and meet minimum credit hour requirements during the academic year: Undergraduate Students must be registered for at least 6 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; Graduate Students must be registered for at least 4.5 credit hours during fall/spring semesters; International Students must be registered full-time (Undergraduate = 12 credit hours, Graduate = 9 credit hours) during fall/spring semesters. Enrollment requirements must be maintained for the duration of on-campus employment. Individual hiring departments and programs may also have additional eligibility requirements for employment.
